Summer Capsule Wardrobe – ABBY ALLEY

Summer Capsule Wardrobe

Summer Capsule Wardrobe

As the summer season kicks off, I wanted to start June with a capsule wardrobe - less as a challenge and more to get organized for what I want my summer wardrobe to look like, how I want to feel, and potentially what holes I have in my closet. I'm hoping this creates a sense of freedom for getting dressed this month as I'll have a very clear picture of what my options are and how to be creative within the capsule I create.

In short, I've chosen 30 pieces of clothing to wear for 28 days of June (I'm leaving for Mallorca on the 29th, and yes I'll share what I'm packing as we get closer!).

I also added 8 pieces that I will pull from for any occasions that may feel like I want something a little different. Some of these pieces are for dressier occasions, some for chillier weather, but some are for when I feel like adding some spice to my everyday.

To get organized, I moved each of these pieces to the front of my closet racks and drawers so they will be top of mind and easy to grab.

Above is my mood board. I couldn't find photos for everything I chose, but I will share outfit photos and details as the month kicks off. For now, here are the links to everything in case you're on the hunt for something!

Putting together a capsule is always a fun challenge in creativity as I think through why I select the pieces I select and why certain pieces feel good every single time I put them on...and others just don't. It's a good exercise in learning what works for you!

As a side note, my philosophy around shopping/clothing is to purchase in line with my values of supporting small, ethical fashion brands without compromising on style. The starred pieces are ones I have purchased in 2023, everything else is old...so I'll link what I can or something similar. I'm looking at this list and the leopard print tee is literally from 2007. Quality lasts!

I'm seeing some themes - of course the neutral color palette. But neutral doesn't have to be boring! I love the textures and design details of all of these pieces. If you're going to do something like this, my biggest piece of advice is to think about what role the pieces will play. For example, most of my tanks/tops will serve as utility players - going with nearly every bottom on my list. Whereas, the cropped tank, for example, is more of a situational piece, only getting in the game when I'm wearing certain waisted shorts or pants. You want to make sure you have a good mix of both!
